Cold Heading Quality wire is a technically demanding product which is used by customers of Johnstown Wire Technologies for the cold forming of engineered products and fasteners. Our success in producing wire of the highest quality for today’s extensive forming operations has been achieved by concentrating on several areas.

Raw Material: First, in raw material selection, LWJ purchases high quality rods from vendors throughout the world. To ensure the best quality for each specific application our team of Metallurgists carefully analyzes each rod producer’s capabilities. We buy material only from those who can meet our tough standards.

Annealing: At Liberty Wire Johnstown we operate three of the largest continuous coil annealing furnaces. Each 10 zone furnace allows LWJ to produce annealed rod and wire with exceptional quality.   With these furnaces, our team of highly trained

operators and our best practices, our customers can expect a consistent product from JWT with the best ductility for their tough applications each and every time.

Cleaning and Coating: Liberty Wire Johnstown has recently installed a fully automated state of the art cleaning house that utilizes hydrochloric cleaning and a variety of coating options.

Packaging: The DFAR and SAIP package from LWJ’s dead block wire drawing machines are the best in the industry. We continue to invest in new wire drawing machinery to ensure the best quality possible.

Process Control: JWT has adopted Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) extensively for process control on the shop floor. As a large, full service mill, LWJ is capable of producing a wide variety of sizes, grades and coatings.
